Magna Tiles is a lifelong investment, and this excuses the high price tag. Your child will likely carry their Magna Tiles set into his/her teenage years and adulthood and likely never toss them aside.

The parts tie together by the strength of magnets along their sides, and although they wont be knocked over by the lightest breeze or when you sneeze, the structures you build are that much more easily demolished.
If the plan is to purchase these for a hot tempered and impatient minor, then Magna Tiles may not be the optimal option at this time.
Magna Tiles do have the ability to enhance one’s dexterity and patience, but if your child tries to play with Magnatiles before he/she is able to understand their use, they may just get angry and develop a poor first impression, possibly even causing them to avoid playing with them for a good number of years.
Umpteen schools all across the U.S. use Magna Tiles as an adjunct to children’s maths education by experimenting with complicated mathematical shapes, areas and volumes.
Magna Tiles will make it easier for your child to grasp otherwise complex mathematical concepts such as spacial relationships, fractions and percentages. So which one should you get? Well the basic set – although popular previously, just looks plain horrible and isn’t that much cheaper than the translucent set to justify this. The 32 piece sets ARE cheaper, but you can’t really construct anything big with them – chances are you’ll go and buy yourself another set, in which situation it’d just be cheaper for you to go for the 100 piece set straight off the bat. And what of the Deluxe set? There are 8 extra pieces which only slightly increase what you can do. Plus it consists of the ugly parts from the standard set.
As a result, I totally recommend that you go for the Magna-Tiles Translucent Colors 100 Pieces, which in my opinion is the only Magna Tiles set you aught to be going for if you’re buying this for the first time.
