The main reason why people avoid drinking water is that it is tasteless and insipid. People fail to realize that plain water is definitely a much healthier drink than soda. Now there is an entire range of packaged drinking water available in the market such as Vitamin Water that is basically bottled water with coloring, vitamins, and flavor.

Instead of buying these bottled drinks, there are many ways you can add flavor to water at home to make it more exciting to drink. The flavor is only to make it more palatable to some people who have tough time drinking just plain water. It is to encourage people to drink more water and there are no adverse effects because of the flavor.

Sparkling water and a range of fruits go very well together and the many flavors are – lemon, apple, pomegranate, tangerine, grapefruit, peach, melon, pear and some tropical fruits.

Another healthy way is to add to water herbs such as mint, lemongrass, and parsley. These are also effective in providing aroma to your water. If you want to strongly release the flavor you can crush the plants a little bit before putting them into your water. A water dispenser is half filled up with cucumber slices, and the water dispensed taste very refreshing with a bit of cucumber flavor. This is a simple and economical way of adding flavor to drinking water.

Another favorite is to add plum wine to water. It is a very sweet liquid made from green plums with a lot of water. The distinct sweet flavor comes our strongly when there is one part plum wine to ten parts water. Blueberries and strawberries have distinct flavors that can be soaked up by water. All you have to do is cut or crush a little of the berries into your water. Adding vinegar to water is more or less like adding citrus. You will get sour water that is rich in vitamin C. Mixing water in balsamic vinegar is not recommended as it has oil, but any clear vinegar is good for flavoring your water.
